General Security Awareness Training
General Security Awareness Training (GSAT) is a requirement of EC Regulation 2320. In the UK, GSAT applies to all applicants for, and holders, of a full pass granting unescorted access to the Restricted Zone (RZ) except where the applicant or pass holder is already in receipt of equivalent or better training (equivalence).
GSAT Requirements
In summary the requirements are:
From 28 January 2008, before a full pass (new or renewal) granting unescorted access to the RZ can be issued, the applicant must either:
provide evidence that they have successfully completed a full GSAT course;
or provide evidence of 'equivalence'.
By 19 January 2009, anyone who was the holder of a full pass at 28 January 2009 must have provided evidence that they have discharged the GSAT requirements (either completion of a course or 'equivalence') or the pass will be suspended.
